Nonprofit board members and staff can start the year off strong by participating in a board boot camp on January 27 at McKenna Event Center. The day-long interactive workshop will provide tips, tools, handouts, networking opportunities, information and case studies to help strengthen local nonprofit leadership. The goal is to provide the tools needed for improved governance, financial management and overall operational success.

Alice Jewell named Distinguished Young Leader of New Braunfels. “Rising Stars: 40 Under 40” was the brainchild of the New Braunfels Jaycees leadership as a way to highlight community who have made a major impact on those around them. Alice Jewell, CEO of the McKenna Foundation, was selected as recipient, and she was met with applause as she approached the stage to accept the accolade.

The McKenna Foundation Board of Trustees announced today that it has selected Alice Jewell as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, taking over with the retirement of Dr. Jerry Major, who served as Foundation CEO since 2011.
